For many years Massimiliano Mollonahas developed institutional experiments around the notion of ‘commons’ – cross-sectional spaces of political and economic autonomy – as a teacher, researcher, curator, activist and filmmaker. Using a participatory methodology that brings together critical anthropological enquiry and art interventions, he has led collective projects around issues of class, labour, and decolonial and postcapitalist transformations.

As an educator at Goldsmiths, and at Bologna university, Massimiliano has developed practices of collective study, intersecting art and pedagogy, also working with the collective Freethought, which heco-founded with Irit Rogoff, including Nora Sternfeld, Stefano Harney, Adrian Heathfield, and Louis Moreno. Massimiliano is also one of the founders of the Institute of Radical Imagination (IRI) a collective of activists, artists and curators aiming at implementing post-capitalist forms of life.
