Situational knowledge

Often referred to as "situated knowledge," is a concept that originated in feminist epistemology, particularly through the work of philosopher and scholar Donna Haraway 1988. The term emphasizes the idea that knowledge is not universal or abstract but is instead shaped by the specific context, social position, and experiences of the knower.

In essence, situated knowledge encourages us to recognize that what we know and understand is shaped by where we stand in society, our cultural background, and our personal experiences. Embracing situated knowledge is a way of promoting inclusivity, diversity, and a more nuanced understanding of complex issues, including climate change and climate justice.
