Part of Connection Established: Digital Folklore and Web Craft — a gathering for those weaving practices across the craft webs of the internet.
Drawing from the spirit and structure of the Internet Phone Book, this informal meet-up brings together artists, writers, and thinkers featured in the guide for an evening of exchange. Hosted by @aleesteele, the event opens space to connect, share practices, and explore how digital tools hold folklore, friendship, and form.
We’ll be sharing the School of Commons learning platform, which operates as a digital garden: a dynamic, collectively tended space that grows in tandem with the learning processes it reflects. Rather than serving as a static archive or institutional showcase, the platform offers an evolving infrastructure for commons-based knowledge practices, where documentation, communication, and publication remain shared, processual, and continually in motion.
Inspired by digital gardens — non-linear, associative platforms for knowledge cultivation — the SoC website functions as both a communal resource and a living learning environment. It invites participants to co-create a public-facing record of their work while also sustaining the infrastructural conditions for peer learning and collaborative research.
Informed by her research UBUNGXENYE (Parthood), Chantelle Lue creatively directed and stewarded the platform, and will be presenting it on behalf of School of Commons at the event.
