Interconnectedness

by LIOS Labs Seeds for Survival at the Edge of the Desert

Interconnectedness refers to the state of being connected or linked together. It highlights the idea that different elements or entities within an ecological system are physically or functionally connected to one another. It emphasises the tangible relationships and networks that exist, such as the flow of energy, the transfer of nutrients, or the interactions between species within an ecosystem. Interconnectedness emphasises the observable and measurable connections within ecological systems.

Interconnectedness and relationality share similarities, however there is a subtle distinction between the two concepts. While interconnectedness focuses on the tangible connections and linkages within an ecological system, relationality adds a deeper layer by emphasising the dynamic, reciprocal, and often intangible relationships and interdependencies between entities within the system.
