The Digital Search Engine for Art Education

A project initiated by the Center for Innovative Media at the Academy of Applied Arts in Croatia.

In a collaborative dialogue, participants explore ideas, possibilities and solutions for a speculative shared digital platform that can archive artistic productions worldwide, the series comprised of three roundtables, the third of which was organized in collaboration with the ZHdK /School of Commons.

Participants at the recent event shared their insights on the challenges of archiving art educational productions and detailed their connections to the topic. Ashlee Conery, co-founder of CubeCommons, presented the platform, which serves as a collectively owned content streaming service aimed at creating an open archive of educational materials in various formats (audio, video, text). Currently in beta, CubeCommons offers a free archiving service that emphasizes ecological and equitable content management. All content owners are involved in co-owning and governing the platform, influencing its future direction.The discussions underscored the necessity for a digital framework that integrates diverse art education initiatives. Such a structure, operating beyond individual organizations, promises to enhance effectiveness and accessibility for the public.
