xquisite echo

xquisite echo was an experimental longform audio conversation as part of READ's Rountables for 2020 that took place between November 2020 and January 2021. Inspired by the tragic tale of Echo and the surrealist methodology of ‘exquisite corpse‘, participants were added one by one to a whatsapp group where every member contributed a voice note. Akin to an exquisite corpse, each new participant was only able to access the most recent recording and subsequent contributions, but was not able to see any contributions prior to their own. In response to what they heard the new participants responded in their own voice, but using the words (quotes, passages, lyrics) of others.
