How do we know what we know about hormones?

  • Europe

This project explores epistemologies of hormones within the human body, focusing on embodied participatory performance. The artifacts I am working on within the scope of this research span several epistemological modalities and explore different methods of archiving this learning process (such as annotation and accretion).

Initially, I had been planning to host several online discussions, which would have included elements of drawing and digital collage, such as in the following drawing exercises:

However, in the course of the research (more on the evolution of the project during the course of the residency) I decided to explore the potential of sound for building knowledge about the body as a rhythmic/cyclic (rather than static) reality: Dec 3, 2022 – time TBD – Zurich – as part of the School of Commons end of year event.

Glyphs constructed in the process of digesting intense emotional experience. “LOOK INSIDE” (2020/2022) spans 6 continuous weeks, each glyph reflects the emotional timbre of one day, varying in relative valence and coherence. Pen and paper rendering displayed at Atelier Automatique (Bochum) in June 2020; digital rework in 2022. This kind of glyph construction is part of the recipe I developed for CRITICAL DATA PRACTICE AT HOME AND WITH FRIENDS (2022)
